Camping in the Trees   2 comments

You may or may not have known this, but camping in the trees beats sleeping on the ground any day. Hennessey makes the finest hammocks around. Stephen and I each used a Hennessy on our trip to the Brule River last week, and from setting up camp in a flash at 2am to packing up camp at 5am in a flash, I had the best three hours of sleep I’ve ever experienced. The next night was great too, when I slept from 9pm to 7am.

I highly recommend you give this way of camping a go. You’ll feel so much better in the morning.

  1. Yes! This is a terrific image that testifies to the “lightness” that this set up provides. That is an unbelievably small profile for an item that provides comfort that, when the conditions are right, actually exceeds that of a bed at home.

I will always seek this method of sleeping in the outdoors as it beats the alternatives hands down. Who would believe that I am sleeping better in a wad of canvas that fits in one hand than a guy staying at the Ritz Carlton? But it’s true!

    Thanks for the post.

  2. Have never tried hammock camping before but always wanted to give it a shot. Looks like a great sytem there , might have to break down and purchase something similar before next spring (I’d imagine it’d be a little chilly using that setup here in the midwest this time of year!). Great blog…I’ll be following along.
